A current TV drama that regards ethnicity is the show Luther. The main character features a man of black origin called Luther who plays a detective. He is represented as very strong-willed and authoritive. This represents black people as most are very hard workers, and some are expressed negatively as somewhat scary and intimidating, this is shown in this episode here. Another example of ethnic representation is through the episode of Coronation Street, and the Masoods family. Who own a family restaurant- The haji bhaji. They are very business-like and are extremely religious in their views and beliefs. This is shown when their son comes out homosexual and they do not approve and do not want contact with him. This is a typical overly religious attitude, which most Indian origins follow. Also, the idea that they own a restaurant and that they are very business orientated is typical Indian worth ethic as they are portrayed as very work indulged. Finally, a third example is through the Simpsons, and how groundkeeper Willy is portrayed. He is the school caretakers and has a very strong Scottish attitude, and is featured in numerous episodes drinking whiskey and wearing a kilt, this is just too overly emphasise the fact that he is Scottish, and to show a stereotypical version of Scottish culture. Also, He is featured as very aggressive and intimidating, this is what Scottish people are sometimes expressed as, therefore, they have used this stereotype to give the viewer an overall understanding of the Scottish male.
